When Wong kicked off her design process for the March 2023 Glam Bag, which celebrates Women’s History Month, she went straight to Met Gala fashion archives and renaissance art. “This month is inspired by the goddess costumes from the Met Gala and Greek goddess statues and patterns,” says Wong. “I wanted to find the color, fabric texture, and trim accessories from fashion and art history that symbolize beauty and women power.”

The fabric, a textured geometric pattern, is definitely a powerful standout. “The unique fabric is made with an embossed technique to create the 3D texture,” she adds. “It was inspired by Greek statues and art deco. We selected this fabric for the look of modern architectural beauty.” For a beautiful contrast and on-theme style, Wong opted for a cobalt blue zipper tape and inner lining and a gold coin zipper pull that is reminiscent of fine jewelry from Greece. “The face on the gold coin is actually Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty.”

The March 2023 Glam Bag Plus design is equally on theme. “The emblem on the front is Aphrodite,” says Wong. “She is not only the goddess of love and beauty, but Aphrodite is also often considered a daughter of the sea and seen as the personification of passion, pleasure, and desire, meaning our beauty and power have no limits like the sky and sea.”

To stick with the sky and sea references, the Aphrodite emblem is stamped over a watercolor printed microfiber fabric. Wong explains: “The blue and white watercolor colors were inspired by the traditional color of Greece and Greek art. Blue symbolizes the sky and sea, and white symbolizes the clouds and the waves.” And like Aphrodite’s iconic diadem, the bag is topped with a metallic gold rounded nylon drawstring cord.
