The internet can’t get enough of fruit. We’ve seen trends inspired by strawberries, cherries, and tomatoes; even cherry tomatoes (yes, they’re technically a fruit) have had their time in the sun. With the recent butter-yellow trend, it’s no surprise that bananas would be the next fruit to take off. And it very well did. With numerous banana-based beauty products lining the shelves, we reached out to licensed esthetician Aly Mac to better understand why this fruit is so a-peeling. Discover the benefits of banana beauty below and find your next best beauty product, too!

It's about glam time you treated yourself.

What Are the Benefits of Banana in Beauty Products?

Bananas are not only delicious but also nutritious, offering many benefits for your complexion. “Bananas are packed with skin-supportive nutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin B6, potassium, magnesium, and antioxidants. I personally wouldn’t consider them a miracle skincare ingredient, but they can absolutely play a role in supporting healthy skin,” says Mac.

Dry and dull skin types benefit from the “moisturizing, soothing, and antioxidant properties” of banana-derived skincare, according to Mac.

The great thing about bananas is that you can reap the benefits both by eating them and applying them to your skin. “I'm a big believer that healthy skin starts with healthy habits. A balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants has a much greater impact on long-term skin health than simply applying a trendy ingredient topically,” says Mac. “That said, topical banana extracts can still offer benefits. They can help hydrate, soften, and protect the skin thanks to their antioxidant content.”

Why Is Banana Beauty Trending Right Now?

Mac shares, “Bananas are associated with healthy eating, tropical vacations, and glowing summer skin, which makes them an easy ingredient for brands to build fun-to-use, approachable products around.”

More than that, she believes that “consumers are becoming more ingredient-conscious. People want to know what's in their products and are naturally drawn to recognizable ingredients, even if it's important to remember that the overall formulation matters much more than any single hero ingredient.”

The 10 Best Banana Beauty Products to Try

Mac personally uses this cleanser at the end of the day. “It contains a blend of beautiful botanical extracts, including banana extract, and it's 100% acne-safe, which is something I always look for when recommending products to my clients,” she says. “One of my favorite things about it is how it emulsifies with water, making it incredibly easy to rinse away without leaving behind a greasy residue. Plus, it smells like a tropical vacation in a bottle. It's one of those products that transforms an evening cleansing routine into a little self-care ritual that my clients genuinely look forward to.”
