It’s True! Victoria Beckham Beauty Future Lash Mascara Is Actually As Good As It Looks

If I had to describe Victoria Beckham’s style in three words, they would be chic, minimal, and elevated. Name someone who can rock a crisp T-shirt, blazer, and a pair of jeans better...I’ll wait. Even in her days sporting the little Gucci Dress as Posh Spice (bonus points for all the Spice World fans who read that in a British accent), through the launch of her eponymous clothing line, and even her presence on social media, she’s never strayed from her iconic style.

When she and beauty executive Sarah Creal created Victoria Beckham Beauty in 2019, it was no surprise that the same sophisticated style we’ve come to expect from Victoria transferred seamlessly into her beauty brand. It’s also no surprise, at least for me, that I feel the need to get my hands on each and every product she releases —Bitten Lip Tint will forever have a spot in my makeup routine. The latest Victoria Beckham Beauty launch I’ve been obsessing over: Future Lash Mascara (featured in our April Glam Bag Plus!).

A few initial thoughts:

You know the saying “never judge a book by its cover?” Yeah, that doesn’t apply here. The first thing I noticed about Future Lash Mascara was the packaging. It’s heavy, almost like a rollerball fragrance. The weighty mascara just feels luxe in your hands. And the black metal tube with understated gold writing was just the icing on the minimalist cake.

The second thing I noticed was the petite brush. It was a refreshing change from all the jumbo brushes I kept running into while trying new mascaras. For my deep-set eyes, those huge bristles are a recipe for black flecks all over my lids. In contrast, the thin, curved brush of Future Lash Mascara means you can get right up against the base of your lashes, wiggle the wand, and swipe with zero smudges or flaking.

Taking it for a test drive:

After drooling over the packing for a few minutes daydreaming how this mascara was going to magically turn me into Victoria Beckham, it was time for what I was excitedly anticipating: the first swipe. That’s something I love about trying new mascaras. Unlike skincare or complexion products, I can usually tell right away if I’m going to like mascara or not. At first swipe, I knew this was going to be for me.

The formula is pretty wet, which does mean you need to let your lashes dry for a minute before it sets and becomes smudge-free, but it also means that you’re not going to get any clumps. This last benefit is the biggest thing I look for in mascara. No matter how many lash combs or lash-separating hacks I’ve tried (FYI, I do not recommend using a sewing needle!), if a formula is clumpy to begin with, there’s really no going back.

After just one coat I was left with long, defined, fluttery lashes. Although this mascara isn’t particularly volumizing and is more of a natural look, the ultra-black formula is so inky that I still had a bit of drama. You might be able to tell from my before photo, but I curled only my right lashes before application. Future Lash did such a good job lifting my lashes (one of the perks they claim right on the tube) that you can’t even tell the difference in the after pic.

The best part is that it feels like I’m not wearing any mascara at all. I can’t stand the way that some formulas leave your lashes so crunchy it’s like they could snap in half. Thanks to the brand’s proprietary C2 complex (which conditions lashes using shea butter, niacinamide, and panthenol) and the plant-based polymers (which help volumize), my lashes felt soft and flexible all day until I washed my face at night. Oh, did I mention it easily comes off with just warm water? Yup! No makeup removers or oil cleansers necessary.

This has officially become my new favorite everyday mascara. It’s the perfect complement to my daily no-makeup makeup look and doesn’t look crazy against my eyeshadow-free lids. If you’re looking for defined, fluttery lashes, I know you’ll love it, too.
