ICYMI, GAP has been having a bit of a renaissance lately. So far this year, the heritage retailer has released a denim collab with Hailey Bieber, a collection with Victoria Beckham, and choreography-filled campaigns with Young Miko.

Yet cult-favorite clothes aren’t the only thing the brand is bringing back. Sure, you might know GAP for its great basics and famous logo hoodies, but there was once a time when beauty products lined the shelves too. GAP launched its original fragrance collection in 1994—which, depending on your age, is either when you were filling out magazine quizzes or yet to be born—and those scents are making their return after a 30-year hiatus. (Before you ask, yes, Dream and Grass are back.)

It's about glam time you treated yourself.

What's New About GAP's Fragrance Collection

“GAP has a real opportunity in beauty, and fragrance is where that story starts,” says Gap Inc's Head of Beauty, Deb Redmond. “We were rigorous about the technical journey, maintaining the core DNA of the original scents while modernizing the formulations for how people actually wear fragrance today. GAP has always made quality feel within reach. This collection is that same commitment, applied to beauty.”

Fans will be happy to know the original GAP beauty fragrance lineup is back—with a twist. While the OG

versions of Dream, Heaven, Grass, and Om were released as eau de toilettes, the new drop features eau de parfums for a longer-lasting scent. Some of the initial fragrances’ ingredients have also been replaced with clean alternatives. GAP worked closely with DSM-Firmenich perfumers Honorine Blanc and Nicole Mancini to reimagine the classic scents, as well as to create the new gourmand scent, Harmony.

A Guide to Every New GAP Fragrance

Dream

Dream eau de parfum is probably the closest to its original counterpart of any scent in the collection. A warm musk with notes of bergamot, jasmine, and cedarwood—plus added floral elements from freesia and orange blossom accords—the scent is citrusy, fresh, and most of all, nostalgic. It’s like slipping on your favorite white T-shirt right out of the dryer. A dream indeed!

Heaven

An airy gourmand? That’s Heaven. Warm and comforting, it’s a musky vanilla scent with hints of juniper for brightness and cardamom for a slight coolness. Top and heart notes of pear and amber stand out too, adding crisp and golden elements to the scent. Fans of powdery or white floral fragrances will most likely find themselves gravitating to this.

Grass

You might remember Grass smelling like a freshly cut lawn, and while it still carries some of that essence, it’s a little more elevated now. The new formula starts off with a bright and zesty hit courtesy of green mandarin, followed by meditative notes of matcha and a woodsy base. Close your eyes and the blend of scents will take you right into an open field with the sun shining on your face. Think less “grass” and more “luxury wellness retreat.”

Om

Om is kind of like your favorite pop star in that it’s mysterious yet confident at the same time. Its spiced and golden notes include ginger, resin, sandalwood, amber, cashmeran, and cedar, leaving a musk that lightly lingers on the skin. The scent feels perfect for nighttime, whether you’re headed out for date night or slipping into a silky pajama set after an everything shower.

Harmony

Out of the five fragrances, Harmony is the only scent that’s entirely new. It feels juicy and energetic thanks to sweet notes of apricot nectar, gardenia, and jasmine, while warmer notes like amber and aquatic musks level out the dry-down. (If you liked Clinique’s Happy, you’ll probably love this too.) The fruity gourmand is perfect for long summer days or reminiscing on your favorite vacation.

Are GAP's New Fragrances Worth Trying?

A lot has changed in the fragrance community since the ‘90s, and GAP’s new launch hopes to reflect that.

The updated formulas are built to layer and complement one another—making them ideal for scent stacking—with each fragrance offering a distinct emotion and feeling. They might smell a little different than their original counterparts, but they’re just as enjoyable (maybe even more so).

"GAP has always created products that become part of how people express who they are, and fragrance is a natural extension of that,” says Mark Breitbard, CEO and President of GAP. “We’ve modernized GAP’s signature fragrances for the person who grew up with GAP and for those discovering it for the first time. It’s a deeply personal category and a powerful way for us to connect generations as we continue to evolve the brand.”

The new GAP fragrance collection is available on the brand’s website, starting at $20 for 10 ml size bottles. If you can’t choose just one fragrance—we couldn’t—a five-piece discovery kit is up for grabs too.
