Riverdale character Cheryl Blossom wouldn’t be caught dead without her iconic red lip and full glam. Madelaine Petsch—who plays Blossom on TV—is much happier with a less-is-more approach in her personal life. Madelaine, May’s Glam Bag X curator, filled her GBX collection with everything you need to achieve her everyday minimal makeup (from skincare prep to the sheer hits of color and the mascara she reaches for on the reg).

But Mads also knows there’s a time and place you want to level up your look. “Because I’m on the go for work so much, going from day to night with an easy transition is perfect for me,” she says. Which is where a few more faves from the Glam Bag x Madelaine Petsch come in (plus tips from Mads’ go-to makeup artist Jen Tioseco). Ready for the full breakdown of Madelaine’s minimal daytime makeup and leveled-up nighttime look? We’ve got you covered!

About the Expert:

Jen Tioseco is a bicoastal makeup artist for big names like Olivia Culpo, Ashley Benson, Camila Mendes, and of course, our girl Mads.

4 Steps to Madelaine’s Daily No-Makeup Makeup

1. Start With Skincare

“I believe skincare is the most important part of the beauty routine, and I’m a skincare fanatic,” says Madelaine. Her everyday makeup always starts with skin prep, including hydrating serums, sunscreen, (snag a VACATION INC Classic Lotion SPF 30 (MSRP $20) in her May GBX!), and facial massage with SONÄGE SKINCARE Baby Frioz Mini Icy Globes in Lilac (MSRP $54). Pro tip: When she’s running short on time, she’ll save the ice globes for when she’s on the way to work.

Lastly, she preps her skin with WANDER BEAUTY Glow Ahead Illuminating Face Oil (MSRP $42). “It goes great underneath makeup, or you can mix a couple drops with your foundation,” says Madelaine. “It’s this beautiful luminescent pearl and it dries down nicely. It’s not overly oily.”

2. Add a Pop of Color

Next up is the KEYS SOULCARE Sheer Flush Cheek Tint (MSRP $22). “I love a cream blush,” says Madelaine. “I think it goes on so much nicer than powder. I really like using my fingers for a cheek tint rather than a brush because I feel like it blends into the skin so much better. Also, Alicia Keys is the coolest person ever, so I’m really excited to be using a product from her line.” As a self-admitted over-blusher, Mads has learned to tap a bit off on the back of her hands before applying the blush to her cheeks. “This is how I keep myself in control.”

3. Swipe on Mascara

“Now is one of my favorite steps, mascara,” she says. Her pick: BITE BEAUTY Upswing Full Volume Mascara in Solid Black (MSRP $30). “This mascara gives my eyelashes so much volume, but it still feels lightweight. I also love this mascara because it’s smudge-resistant. As somebody who is on the go all the time and does shed a tear every once in a while, it’s helpful for me.”

4. Bring on the Gloss

The last step in Mads’ no-makeup look is TYS BEAUTY Lip Treat (MSRP $30). In just one quick swipe, this iridescent treatment helps leave your lips looking instantly fuller thanks to plumping peppermint and ginger root extracts and nourishing vitamin E and vitamin B. “I love a lip gloss,” she says. “The Lip Treat has peppermint oil in it, is super hydrating, and it feels so good on the lips. And who doesn’t love a good plump lip?”

Here’s How She Levels Up Her Look at Night

1. Layer on Some Eyeshadow

To create Madelaine’s warm, shimmery lids, Tioseco used the ICONIC LONDON Sunset to Sunrise Eyeshadow Palette (MSRP $62), a collection of 20 (!!) beach sunset-inspired matte, shimmer, and glitter shadows. As a base, she worked the shade Sunkissed (a shimmer peach) all over Mads’ lids with a fluffy brush and windshield-wiper motions. “Brush the color up until there’s no more product on your brush, then you’ll get that beautiful graduation of color,” says Tioseco.

Tioseco then layered on the shade Tan Lines (a shimmery pink) on top of where she created that peachy base using the same brush. “To make sure it’s really blended, take a clean brush and blend the edges out of the shadow,” she says. “Because I want the focus to be on the liner, I just took [Moonlit], a light shimmer, and washed it all over her lids.”

2. Define Your Eyes

To build up the intensity of Mads’ eyes without adding additional eyeshadow, Tioseco opted for a statement winged liner using KVD VEGAN BEAUTY Tattoo Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Trooper Black (MSRP $23). “I love this liner because it has an ultra-fine tip, and it’s waterproof,” says Tioseco. “While it’s still wet, you can just take your thumb and press slightly on the edge of the wing and pull it out a bit more. That will really sharpen the edge.” Need a little more help? Check out our guide to creating the perfect cat-eye.

3. Touch-Up With Concealer

Time for TARTE™ Creaseless Concealer™ (MSRP $27). Yes, Tioseco conceals after the eyes are done. “The reason I go in with concealer after shadow is because if I have any fallout, taking the concealer after helps clean it up quickly, and also you can really sharpen your liner with the concealer,” says Tioseco. “I love this concealer because it is almost like an under-eye cream with pigment to it, so it’s really light under the eyes but it still gives me the coverage that I’m looking for.” Tioseco dabbed a bit under Madelaine’s eyes, then buffed and blended it out using a fluffy brush to help evenly disperse the product and keep it looking very natural.

ONE/SIZE Ultimate Blurring Setting Powder

4. Powder Your T-Zone

Lastly, Tioseco went in with the ONE/SIZE Ultimate Blurring Setting Powder ($30) to keep Mads’ look locked in all night. “I am obsessed with this powder,” she says. “It blurs all the pores and imperfections. It’s super lightweight, and the powder is so finely milled that it’s truly undetectable on the skin.” She doesn’t want to eliminate all the natural glow on Mads’ face, so she focused the powder just through the center of the face around the nose and chin. “It has a natural matte finish, so it’s not drying on the skin at all, which I love in a powder.”
