A Spiderweb, Reimagined

When Wong began designing October's collection, she wasn't thinking about costumes. She was building an entire mood. “We wanted to craft a moody, dark romantic world inspired by the elements of punk and goth, with feminine aesthetics and modern style," she says.

That vision started with an unlikely muse: the spiderweb.

Instead of treating it like a Halloween novelty, Wong transformed it into something refined. Metallic silver webbing stretches across both bags, while tiny pearl-like droplets give the artwork unexpected dimension.

"We wanted to render the spiderweb in metallic silver with liquid waterdrops and pearl accents," Wong explains. "It elevates a classic spiderweb motif into something fashionable and wearable that you can carry year-round."

The Details Make the Drama

The beauty of these bags isn't just the print—it's everything surrounding it. The IPSY Original Glam Bag pairs structured black faux leather with a custom silver spiderweb zipper pull that feels more like jewelry than hardware. The IPSY Extra drawstring bag softens the mood with plush black microfiber and lavender drawcords that add just the right amount of contrast.

Both materials were carefully selected to let the metallic artwork take center stage.

"The Glam Bag uses structured black faux leather to deliver a sleek, leather-jacket edge," says Wong. "For the Drawstring Bag, we opted for microfiber that feels soft and romantic. Both fabrics create a deep, shadowy canvas that lets the metallic silver webbing pop dramatically."

Look even closer and you'll spot one of Wong's favorite hidden details.

"They aren't traditional web lines—they're beaded with tiny waterdrop and pearl-like shapes," she says. "Combined with the custom silver spiderweb zipper pull, it gives the design a jewelry-like finish."

Designed to Outlast Spooky Season

One of the biggest challenges? Creating something inspired by Halloween that wouldn't feel limited to October. "We chose black faux leather and soft black microfiber," Wong says. "Adding the abstract metallic silver web elevates the design seamlessly. Paired with a subtle pop of wilted petal pink, it's edgy without feeling like a costume."

That philosophy even shaped the artwork itself.

After beginning with a moodboard full of dark romance, gothic glam, and vampy beauty inspiration, Wong and the design team spent multiple rounds refining the web's scale for each silhouette. The center of the web is intentionally cropped on the Glam Bag, while the larger drawstring allows the pattern to expand naturally across the fabric.

The result is a pair of bags that feel less like seasonal accessories and more like statement pieces you'll reach for long after the last scary movie marathon.
