Although the French manicure is a classic, it can feel a little, well, too classic and just not that exciting. Switch it up with some updated modern takes on the French tip, like the V-cut French manicure. The V-shaped French tip trend is blowing up on TikTok and Instagram—and for good reason. There are so many ways to get creative with this trending nail design.

French tip nails usually have a pale pink base and a straight white tip of varying thickness. V French tip nails feature a deep V shape instead of the “smile line” at the tip. The classic nail design includes a white V but you can have some fun with bold colors and textures and all different shapes and styles. This isn’t the type of nail art that only looks good on one nail style. It’s chic on short nails, coffin nails, square nails, stiletto, ballerina, and all the rest.

Below, check out the 15 V-cut French manicure nail looks we’re loving this season.

1. Split Chevron French Manicure

This is pretty easy nail art to DIY from home. Just take two different colors and criss-cross them at the tip.

2. Classic Chevron V-Shaped Nails

This is the classic white tip V-shape on square nails with a neutral base. If you’re not sure where to start with the trend, begin here.

3. Sparkly V-Shape French Tip Nails

The white V-shape doesn’t have to be boring! Give it a glam update with glitter nail polish on ballerina nails.

4. Skittles French Tips

With each finger, give the V a different color. Can we say that the skittles nails trend gets a 2022 update? Yes, we can.

5. Halloween Nail Art

No matter the holiday, you can get creative with V-shaped nail designs, such as these bloody gel nails.

6. Accent V-Shaped Nails

If an entire set of V-shape French nails feel like a little too much, try an accent nail to make a basic French mani pop. This works especially well on short nails.

7. Graphic V-Cut French Nails

With black, white, and glitter lines, these nail extensions take on a cool graphic vibe.

8. Ombré V-Cut French Nails

This nail set might look like it has a classic pink base at first, but it’s really a creative ombré design with some additional bling on the accent nails.

9. V-Cut Almond Nails

Most V-cut French nails are on square or coffin-shaped fake nails. But the nail design works on a rounded almond shape, too.

10. Crystal-Detailed V-Cut Nails

11. 3-D Designed Nails

DIY this V-cut French manicure with pink polish and add some 3D stickers for a salon-worthy look.

12. V-Shaped Designs on Natural Nails

You don’t need long acrylic extensions to nail the look. Your natural nail length looks just as great, especially with some bling like rhinestones.

13. Press-On Nails

You don’t need manicure skills to apply these press-on nails. You just need a little glue and patience and you’ll be stunting in no time.

14. Winter-Ready French Tip Nail Design

The addition of a snowflake nail sticker turns these simple red V-cut nails into a festive holiday look.

15. Pink Base French Manicure

Most French base coats are a shade close to your natural nail. This nail set uses a brighter pink color for fun change.
