April invites you to slow down just enough to notice the little things: the way light hits your skin, the silky soft feel of flower petals, the calm that comes from letting your mind wander. This month’s Glam Bag design for IPSY Original subscribers captures that feeling exactly. It’s light, romantic, and quietly whimsical, designed to make everyday beauty moments feel a little more magical. Think of it as your reminder to pause, breathe, and let yourself drift.

Joanne Wong is the Senior Designer of Fashion and Accessories at IPSY. She has been designing fashion handbags, accessories, and beauty packaging for more than 10 years for brands like Sephora, Nordstrom, Adventures by Disney, and more.

For this month’s Glam Bag design, IPSY designer Joanne Wong leaned fully into softness, both in look and in feel. “I chose faux satin because it has that silky glow that feels light and romantic,” she says. “It gives the bag a dreamy feel, which felt perfect for spring.”
The palette came together just as organically. Inspired by blush tones, spring florals, and delicate petals, Wong wanted the pinks to feel almost skin-like. She was going for subtle, wearable, and easy to pair with everything in your routine. Nothing too bold. Nothing too sharp. Just softness, layered beautifully.
The cloud-wash pink print looks effortless, but getting it just right took intention. “We tested the tie-dye a few times to make sure it stayed soft and cloud-like,” Wong explains. “We didn’t want harsh lines; we wanted it to feel airy, like a watercolor wash.”

The design process began with a moodboard filled with florals, lace, balletcore inspiration, and delicate fabrics. From there, Wong experimented with different tie-dye techniques until the pinks felt just right, then tested the print on faux satin to capture that final, luminous finish.
And then there’s the pearl zipper pull—the kind of detail that feels like a quiet little luxury. “Pearls always feel timeless and delicate, like a piece of jewelry,” says Wong. “It adds that ultra-feminine, daydream vibe to the Glam Bag.”
Several pearl shapes were tested before landing on the final one, chosen for its soft glow and subtle elegance. It’s the kind of detail you notice most in motion, especially when unzipping the bag to reach for your beauty favorites.
This design was shaped by beauty trends that are all about softness (think dreamy blush tones, balletcore, skin tints, and finishes that feel barely there). “Everything this season feels light and romantic,” says Wong. “I wanted April’s Glam Bag to match that energy.”
What Wong hopes Ipsters notice most? “How unique the pink tie-dye looks on the soft, silky satin, and of course, the pearl charm,” she says. “It’s a sweet little surprise every time you open it.”
